Speaking of eco-friendly Packaging, except for the MONO and LU packages FFPC served, we are now introducing our RR packages. A series that applies Recycled/ Regenerated material to flexible packaging to achieve a circular economy and sustainable operation. Classification and Sources-PCR/ PIR Material

PCR：Post-Consumer Recycled

Recycling the plastic waste which generated by consumers. For example: Plastic bottles、Aluminum cans and all kinds of plastic container.

PIR：Post-Industrial Recycled 

Recycling plastic waste from the industry's production process of products. For example, defective products and scraps.

Applicable Law and Regulations/ Trends

There are proofs which enhances the enforceability of using PCR/PIR material.

EU released relevant guidelines indicating, "Recycled plastic materials and articles intended to come into contact with foods."
U.S. FDA created an article titled "Post-Consumer Recycled (PCR) Plastics for Food-Contact.”
Taiwan EPA cooperated with several well-known companies to promote PCR/PIR materials. At the same time, they announced the desire to use 25 percent of recycled materials in non-food grade plastic before 2025.
Taiwan FDA holds conferences for the "Application process for utensils container packaging using PET recycled resin" and officially announced the implementation in May 2022. The announcement has caused Taiwan to start to use recycled plastic materials officially.

 

Advantages

Reduce the Carbon Footprint: To fasten the speed of achieving the goal of Net Zero emissions, flexible packaging companies can lower the use of fossil fuels and CO2 emissions by reducing the use of virgin material, landfills, and gas emissions.
Extend the period of the Plastic Recycling process: With the design of the MONO-material approach, flexible packages can enter secondary recycling to extend the plastic lifecycle.

Recommendations for RR Packages

  1. The color of the film roll is darker from the side, but the features are still similar to the original PET, which is suitable for the printing layer.
  2. The film material passed the FDA 21 CFR 177.1630 safety experiment.
RR Material Application
r-Nylon
  1. The puncture resistance is equivalent to the original Nylon owns; r-Nylon can protect the contents effectively from being punctured by force.
  2. The film material passed the FDA 21 CFR 177.1500 safety experiment.
  3. Regenerated by adding 5%~20% recycled Nylon.
